The next brew is planned to be a Citra SMASH.

This will have a web-based view of the brew controller (http://brewerslab.mellon-collie.net:54660/metroui/simulator.py).  This uses web-sockets requires a modern browser (IE10+, Firefox 11, Chrome 16, Android 4.4+)

The other plan is to be able to whirlpool the flameout hops to try get a bit more aroma into the finished beer. I won't be using first wort-hopping.

Not quite the smoothest brewday - heating the sparge water was a little troublesoom. The temperature probe was returning bad results and then disappeared all together. Managed to forget the torrified wheat and had a 90min mash. Ended up with  25gm of the aroma hops and 20gm of each of the flameout hops.

Was also a good couple of litres behind the target volume- however this seemed to be due to more boil off than expected - but realised that I don't properly check volume/gravity post-boil.




This recipe is a variation of the_gold_goose, however Hallertau has been dropped as aroma hop to optimise purchasing. 300gm of hops was previously but not optimal to do 2 brews far apart. This is hoping to be quite high on aroma given 40gm of dry hopping and 30gm of flameout hops

After the last brewday I discovered the sdcard in one of the raspberry pi's was corrupt with a fair number of I/O errors. This has triggered me to start cleaning up the code as I've had to reinstall. There is a fair amount of documentation required before it's likely to be usable but the code is now up on Git Hub https://github.com/allena29/brewerslab

Tomorrow will be the first brewday with the cleaner code- hopefully I haven't introduced any stupid mistakes - laptop at the ready for tomorrow.

The plan for tomorrow is to experiment with the Goose themed recipe, which usually uses ~150g hops (50g centennial, 50g willamette, 50g hallertau hersbrucker). This will use 100g centennial and 100g willamette - investing more in dry hopping.

A future project will be to build a hopback- camlocks on the way from China.
